This is a source-backed first edition, not a complete directory of Japan. 40 individual facilities across 12 prefectures are listed. Rules and visitor access were reviewed on 7 October 2026. “Unrestricted” means the cited official source explicitly allows tattoos at the shared public bath; “official listing” means the tourism page tags the named facility as tattoo-permitted but does not detail conditions. Neither is a promise of admission on a future date.
Unknown and excluded candidates stay out of search results. We do not infer permission from bath type or customer reviews. Official facility or managing-municipality sources control. Third-party directories are leads only.
Checked 7 Oct 2026. Seasonal operation: the official page lists the summer season through 12 Oct 2026 and reopening on 20 Nov 2026. Call ahead if your tattoo could fall under the undefined irezumi exclusion.

Women (Japanese or foreign): trial admission for fashion tattoos. If any single tattoo exceeds 30 × 30 cm, one ¥330 facility sticker is required; if there are multiple tattoos, no sticker is needed when each is within 30 × 30 cm. Foreign male tourists: one sticker plus passport or airline-ticket proof. Japanese men and foreign male residents with tattoos are refused, even with a sticker.
Checked 7 Oct 2026. The guide says a sticker may extend beyond the tattoo and still be acceptable. “Fashion tattoo” is not defined. The rules differ by sex and residency; confirm your eligibility with the facility before visiting.

Address audit
Kinosaki municipal records and official tourism location fields do not always match. This guide uses the managing municipality’s facility information, not a tourism page footer or generic map pin. For Ichino-Yu, Toyooka City’s official facility page gives 415-1 Kinosakicho Yushima; a Visit Kinosaki LOCATION field says 290-36 Kinosakicho Imazu. We use the municipality’s facility address and show its source. Similar city official lists were checked for Goshono-Yu and Mandara-Yu.
Research method and refresh policy
We prefer facility policy/FAQ, managing-municipality pages, and official tourism sources. Each record retains a policy URL, short evidence summary, check date, bath type, natural-water status, address, day-use access and booking route. An official page that mentions tattoos only for another service does not count as bath-policy proof. No blanket assumption is made about sento or super-sento.
The repository includes a low-frequency manual source recheck script. It checks robots.txt, requests listed official pages one at a time with a delay, reports content changes and never changes the live listings automatically. A person must review the source change before accepting a new baseline and editing this guide. No daily automation or external service is contracted.
Affiliate disclosure: There is no active affiliate tracking or paid booking link. Official facility links are provided for current policy and visit information. Any future affiliate link must resolve to a relevant, actually bookable bath or stay and be labelled clearly. This guide makes no claim of personal visits.
